As energy costs increase, YASA ET Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) evaporator technology guarantees lower energy consumption and efficiency compared to traditional evaporators.
A Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) evaporator compresses the vapor in a fan or a compressor to a higher temperature and pressure. This compressed vapor is then used as energy source instead of boiler steam.
The energy savings is possible by using MVR technology which operate at very low specific energy consumption while producing clean distillate.
MVR Evaporators Working Principle For Industrial Wastewater Treatment
MVR evaporators operate on a heat pump principle. The evaporated water vapor is recompressed with low-speed centrifugal fan or compressor which increases the saturation temperature of the vapor.
After the fan, vapor can be used as heating steam in the same unit. The recompressed vapor condenses and releases its latent heat through the heat transfer surface for further evaporation of the liquor or effluent.
MVR Evaporators are one of the most effective technology for the treatment of industrial wastewaters. In fact, evaporation can effectively reduce the following parameters:
Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) - Measure of the amount of oxygen that is needed to oxidize soluble and particulate organic matter in water;
Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) - Biological method used for the measurement of the total amount of dissolved oxygen (DO) used by microbes in the biological process of metabolizing organic molecules present in water;
Total Suspended Solids (TSS) - Suspended particles in water that are not dissolved;
EVADEST MVR Evaporators are very effective in the treatment of many wastewaters, including spent cutting fluids and oily wastewaters, electroplating and landfill leachate. Often this technology requires pre-treatment that can be performed using an electrocoagulation equipment.
Benefits of MVR Evaporator Technology for Wastewater Treatment
Though there are several techniques for wastewater disposal, wastewater evaporators are slowly gaining popularity. Unlike chemical treatments and other processes, MVR wastewater evaporators are environmentally friendly and can remove salts, heavy metals, and hazardous materials in the water purification process.
Energy Efficient
MVR Wastewater evaporators are energy efficient because they recompress the vapor as heat source. In general, the power consumption ranges between 6 to 48 kWh per ton of treated water.
Zero Liquid Discharge
Wastewater evaporators can achieve zero wastewater discharge to more than meet local and national regulations. A MVR evaporator system can reduce factories effluent by up to 95%.
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
TDS refers to the parts per million or milligrams per litre of contaminants in water. An MVR evaporator can reduce TDS to less than 10 mg/L. These levels allow the processed water to be reused and recycled to the manufacturing process.
Cost
When compared to other treatment methods, such as chemical precipitation, wastewater evaporators are far more efficient and cost effective.
Low Maintenance
MVR evaporators require very low maintenance, run automatically and can be monitored remotely.
Flexibility
Wastewater evaporators can adapt to any conditions and can be programmed to handle most of contaminants.
Inclusion
Added to the flexibility of a wastewater evaporation system is its ability to work independently or be added to an existing system or integrated with other technologies. This saves on costs and improves the overall wastewater disposal process.
Waste Volume
The most significant benefit of a MVR wastewater evaporator is its ability to reduce the volume of waste by separating the pollutants from clean water.
